Shirodhara is a classical Ayurvedic therapy in which a continuous stream of warm, medicated liquid is gently poured over the forehead, especially on the ajna marma or sthapani marma or “third eye” region. The liquid used may be herbal oil, buttermilk, milk, or decoctions, depending on the condition being treated. This soothing process helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, relieve headaches and migraines, and enhance concentration and memory. It is particularly beneficial in conditions such as insomnia, hypertension, anxiety, depression, and hair-related issues. By balancing Vata and Pitta doshas, Shirodhara promotes deep relaxation, mental clarity, and overall well-being.

Tarpana Therapy is a specialized Ayurvedic eye treatment in which medicated ghee is retained in the eyes through a specific procedure. The word Tarpana means nourishment or rejuvenation, and the therapy aims to deeply nourish, strengthen, and soothe the eyes. In this process, a ring made of flour dough is placed around the eyes and filled with lukewarm medicated ghee, such as Triphala Ghrita or Shatavari Ghrita etc as per condition. The eyes are kept immersed in this ghee for a prescribed time, after which it is removed carefully. Tarpana helps relieve eye strain, dryness, burning sensation, and inflammation, while also improving vision. It is highly beneficial in conditions like dry eye syndrome, computer vision syndrome, early-stage cataract, and other ocular disorders. In today’s lifestyle, where prolonged screen exposure and eye fatigue are common, this therapy proves to be extremely effective and restorative.
Nasya treatment is one of the important therapies of Panchakarma in Ayurveda, in which medicated oil, ghee, or herbal extracts are administered through the nostrils as per condition. The nose is considered the gateway to the head (Shiraso Dwaram), and hence Nasya directly influences the brain, sense organs, and nervous system. This therapy helps in clearing the channels of the head, improving oxygenation, nourishing the tissues, and balancing the doshas, especially Vata and Kapha in the head region. It is highly beneficial in conditions like sinusitis, migraine, frequent headaches, nasal congestion, hair fall, cervical stiffness, and certain neurological disorders. Apart from disease management, regular practice of Nasya is also said to improve memory, concentration, sleep quality, and enhance overall vitality.
Sarvang Snehan Swedan is an Ayurvedic therapy that combines whole-body oleation (Snehan) with sudation or steam therapy (Swedan) to promote health and balance in the body. In this treatment, warm medicated oils or herbal pastes etc as per condition are applied all over the body to nourish tissues, lubricate joints, and prepare the body for sweating. After the oil massage, the patient undergoes whole-body steam therapy, either using herbal steam or warm compresses, which helps open the channels (Srotas), remove toxins, relieve muscular stiffness, and improve circulation. This therapy is particularly beneficial for conditions like joint pain, arthritis, muscle stiffness, fatigue, and Vata or Kapha disorders. By combining lubrication and gentle heat, Sarvang Snehan Swedan enhances flexibility, promotes relaxation, supports detoxification, and improves overall vitality.
Basti Therapy is considered one of the most important treatments in Ayurveda under Panchakarma. In this procedure, natural medicinal substances are administered through the rectal route in a specific method. It primarily balances Vata dosha, but is also beneficial in disorders related to Pitta, Kapha, and other imbalances. Basti is highly effective in Vata-related disorders such as arthritis, sciatica, paralysis, backache, constipation, gynecological conditions, psychological disorders, and metabolic issues like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. This therapy purifies the body deeply while restoring balance and nourishment.
